The Diana, Princess of Wales
HIV Research Unit, Somerset Hospital

Situated in old Cape Town, overlooking the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Somerset Hospital accommodates both the inpatient and outpatient facilities of the HIV Research Unit. The inpatient facility consists of a 28-bed ward for phase I and II pharmacokinetic studies. This pharmacokinetic unit is of an international standard and has highly trained nursing staff and a dedicated on-site laboratory. The comfort and recreational needs of the volunteer subjects are well met in these professional and congenial surroundings.
The outpatient unit, established several years ago, has become a source of expertise and advice for medial practitioners as well as a source of support for patients seeking therapy.
